At the Faculty of Technology Policy and Management (nr. 31 on the TU Delft map) you can apply for language courses Dutch or English. For information and registration deadlines see the general information about the Delftse Methode and the specific information about Dutch courses of the Delftse methode. See the Institute of Technology & Communication for information about the English courses that TU Delft offers to students.

The Elementary courses I and II are free of charge for exchange students and MSc students who are enrolled at TU Delft. take a look at the Delftse Methode webpage for more information. You can send an email to the Institute of Technology & Communication at: delftsemethode@tudelft.nl to register for a Dutch course with this form filled in.

Please note that for the Elementary Course I you need to follow the introduction lesson. During this lesson you will receive information about how to prepare for the entrance examination and other important things will be explained. It is also compulsory to take the introductory test. Without the entrance examination you cannot enroll in the Dutch course. For more detailed information and the dates and locations of the introduction lesson and the entrance examination, go to the cursist page of the Delftse methode.

If you are a foreigner and want to learn something of the Dutch language, you have one small problem: everybody speaks English. All courses that you follow are in English and also in daily life, many Dutch people will speak English to you. It is our experience that only students from Scandinavia and Germany learn to speak Dutch fluently and actively speak the language. That is why we advise students from other countries, who will not stay for the full MSc program of 2 years, (so especially exchange students who will stay for only one semester) NOT to follow the Dutch course. We suggest that you follow an English course instead. It will improve your oral and written skills and has lifelong value! For more information about all language courses go to the website of all language courses and electives at TPM .

There will be an English placement test to define your level of English. Depending on the results of the test, students can enroll in an English course of their own level. Without the placement test you cannot enroll in the English courses.

Costs for additional courses may vary.
