Support for PhD candidates

VSSD offers PhD cadidates support in several ways:

• Printing and supplying the desired quantity of dissertations, if necessary even within 5 working days. Printing and binding is framed out to the best printing companies in the land.
• Pre-press support. This includes typographical advice, varying from how to cope with the pittfalls of e.g. LaTeX, MS Word and illustrations software, to executing checks on the final PDF output, especially font embedding and picture adequacy. Also the separation of grayscale pages and pages containing colour, and - if required - the scaling of the document from A4, US-letter and other sizes to the standard book size will be taken care of.
• Assistance in designing cover and invitation card. The additional costs for this service are generally less than 100 Euro.
• Publisher services. VSSD can provide an ISBN of their own collection and register the book. If the dissertation may be of interest to a wider audience, the printed version of the thesis can be commercially made available through www.amazon.com and our own website.

Costs

The table gives you an idea of the costs involved (excluding 6% VAT) for a 170 x 240 size book. Within these rates you have is a wide range of choice for the paper used for the book block (varying from 80 to 135 grams and from fully recycled paper to paper that doesn't help protecting wild life habitat). The cover (240 grs) can either be finished with a gloss or matt laminate layer. There is no lower or upper limit to the number of coloured pages.
